John and Jacqueline Nichols established J & J Nichols Upholsterers in 1984 after John lost his job at a small upholstery firm which closed its doors in 1984. At 29 years of age with a wife and 3 children to support and a large mortgage, times were tough. After receiving a small government grant to finance a business John started working in their garage recovering lounge suites.

Two years later John and Jacqueline they rented a small shop on a busy road at Tivoli Hill Ipswich in Queensland.

20 years later the business is trading as J & J Nichols Furniture Company. Incorporating Sofas to Suit at Bardon Brisbane as well as Furniture Brokers with one central phone number 1800 111 240. The 3 premises boast large showrooms displaying a large range of their high quality furniture as well as stock from most major furniture manufacturers in Australia.
